Delta Medical International (DMI) has been appointed as the exclusive distributor in the UK & Ireland for the NIPE Pain Monitor from Mdoloris Medical. This is the first monitor in the world that can give a reliable, accurate and objective indication of pain and comfort in neonates and young infants.
Mdoloris selected Delta Medical as their exclusive partner in the UK & Ireland due to the extensive experience of the DMI team, particularly in the neonatal, maternity and operating room specialties. The NIPE monitor is able to make a dramatic contribution to developmental care; it clearly indicates both acute and chronic pain and highlights actions that improve comfort for the patient.
The NIPE monitor takes the signal from existing patient monitoring devices so no extra sensors are required. The system has been proven in exhaustive clinical trials, is already in routine use in many European hospitals and is protected by international patents. The monitor displays instantaneous pain index and long-term trends, making it equally suitable for managing procedures, surgery, the care environment and analgesia protocols.
Commenting on the distribution award, DMI Managing Director Nick Bettles said: “This appointment clearly underlines the position of Delta Medical International as innovators and as a supplier who will bring new technologies to the NHS that can make a real difference to patient care. We are excited at the contribution this product can make to developmental care practice and to managing the care of these tiny patients.” DMI Sales & Marketing Director, Angie Haken, added: “This is a system that can significantly benefit babies and young infants by giving a clear and objective assessment of their discomfort; it also frees up staff time currently spent on subjective behavioural rating scales for pain scoring”.
