Dextrose Gel for treatment of Neonatal and Infant Hypoglycaemia

Dextrose Gel for Neonatal Hypoglycaemia

We are pleased to announce the addition of dextrose gel for treatment of neonatal hypoglycaemia to our range.

It has been established that the use of oral dextrose solution has an important part to play in the management of neonatal hypoglycaemia, reducing the incidence of treatment failure. Oral administration reduces the need for mother-infant separation, increasing the chance of exclusive breast-feeding and is a simple, low cost option, particularly for early management of at-risk babies.

Destrogel is 40% Dextrose gel which is designed specifically for dietary treatment of neonatal hypoglycaemia. It is gluten and lactose free and intended for oral administration. The gel comes in single dose 2ml ampoules for convenience and to avoid waste; the ampoule is designed to make administration easy.

Nick Bettles, Delta Medical International Managing Director commented: “We are delighted to add dextrose gel to our range. Given the clinical evidence, there is a clear need for a product like Destrogel in neonatal departments and that’s an area we specialise in. We are sure our customers will appreciate the convenience the ampoules provide.”
